What Should I Wear- A Gear Guide for Beginners

There are a lot of guides for higher level wizards as far as gear goes. At the lower levels it's not AS important, but knowing about gear at an early stage can save you a lot of frustration.  First let's cover the icons and what they mean. 

School Icons: 

Elemental Schools

Fire School

Ice School

And then there was Balance All by it's self. LOL

GLOBAL - Meaning it gives you the boost in ALL attacks not just your school 

 Gear Statistic Icons

If a School Icon is in front of ANY of the following icons then it only boosts that particular school! You want to find one that boosts YOUR school. It doesn't do a Storm wizard much good to have Ice Accuracy.  If there is no School icon in front of the following, then it provides a boost across the board. This is EXCELLENT to have in Resist! (But also hard to get at lower levels.)

Resistance -Provides a percentage of resist to spells cast on you.

Damage- Provides a percentage of Damage to Your attacks cast on the enemy. 

Accuracy- STORM AND FIRE WIZARDS! THIS IS IMPORTANT! Even at low levels it helps, though you may not really notice it. Adds a percentage of Accuracy to the spells you cast.

Power Pip Chance- Raises your possibility of getting power pips at the start of each round 

The Globes are kind of self explanatory. The Red Globe adds Health to your Character, the Blue Globe adds Mana, the Green globe adds energy which is important for gardening and pet training, at lower levels Energy boost is only available on some crowns gear.

Incoming/Outgoing Health Boost - Raises the Healing Power of spells by a percentage. The outgoing effects you as well as the incoming, but incoming does not help when you heal your friends. It will ALWAYS have a Life School symbol in front of the heart, because all heals are considered Life.

The following are things you can get on Crowns gear but more than likely you won't encounter these at lower levels. 

Critical Rating- This is the percentage of chance that you have to make a critical hit. This becomes available to ALL wizards at level 50. However, at lower levels you can get Critical Rating and Critical Block on Crowns Gear. 

Critical Block- This helps you to block Critical incoming, again at lower levels this is not needed unless you plan to PVP and is only available on Crowns gear at this low of a level. 

Armor Pierce- This gives a percentage of armor piercing and helps with school resistance or shields on the enemy, raising your attack on them.

Stun Block, You won't need this in Wizard City unless you plan to Low level PVP. It raises the percentage of block to an attempt to stun you. (You can also train Stun Block from Diego in Unicorn Way FREE FOR ICE WIZARDS! for 1 Training Point to the rest of us. It's a zero pip spell that gives you 2 100% Stun Blocks)

 WHAT GEAR DO I NEED?

Well, what you can equip is what you need to better your chances of surviving the ghouls and ghosties haunting wizard city.  All of the following items offer some of the things we covered a moment ago. It's up to you to decide what is most important to your character and purchase/equip the item that will provide it.

Gear changes every 5 levels at lower levels. So when you hit levels 5, 10, 15, 20, etc. yous should go check out what new gear is available, sometimes it's not better than what you have, but sometimes it is.

Hat- At lower levels usually offer only one boost. Choose wisely!

Robe-At lower levels usually offer only one boost. Choose wisely!

Shoes- At lower levels usually offer only one boost. Choose wisely!

 Athame (Knife)- Athames often offer Mana and Health, or Mana or Health at lower levels. If you fizzle a lot, you will need the mana boosts. If not the health boost comes in very handy.

Ring- Rings often offer Mana and Health, or Mana or Health at lower levels. If you fizzle a lot, you will need the mana boosts. If not the health boost comes in very handy.

Wand- Wand hits increase by 5 hit points per gear level once you reach Marleybone you can start looking for a wand that gives you an extra pip at the beginning of a duel, this means that you start with 2 instead of one. 

Deck- The higher the level the more cards you can carry! Which makes sense because you're constantly getting new spells. You need a way to use them!

Now, that you know what it means, and what you need, the question becomes WHERE DO I GET IT!?  

Well, simple you can get it in 4 places. 

• Drops from your duels,  free, but not necessarily for your school. ALWAYS check your backpack and make sure that you haven't picked up an item better than the one you have equipped.
• The Crown Shop, either separately or in sets or buy farming Packs. (I don't recommend this unless you're going to pvp because you level fairly quickly in the beginning and you outgrow your gear needs.)
• You can buy it with Gold in the specific shops in the Shopping district of any world. HOWEVER, you can buy better gear at the Bazaar in Olde Town of Wizard City for Any world/level.
• The Wizard City Bazaar is the absolute BEST place to get low level school specific gear, it's also the best place to sell the drops you don't want and make some extra gold!  

 

 Now that I've got it, how do I put it on???

Hit the B key, this will open your backpack. Choose the equipment button at the top of the page. We'll use a hat for an example. Once you click on that all the hats in your backpack are now available to you. The ones that are red and yellow are hats that you may equip. Click on the hat that you want to wear then click the fist at the bottom of the page that says Equip. You are now wearing the hat. You can take if off the same way or switch directly to another hat. All of your equipment and gear works this way, as well as Pets and Mounts.
