Gifting Do's and Don'ts

Gifting- A wonderful idea that Kings Isle Entertainment had for the players of Wizard101. Allowing us to use Crowns to purchase gifts ranging from items to Mounts for our friends!  Unfortunately not everyone in the Spiral understands that a gift is something that you get from friends and family that enjoy spending time with you and want to show it some way.

Gifting is highly exploited. Anyone with a mount or Crowns Gear will be a target, as well as new players who may not fully grasp the concept, or are tricked into gifting for something that shouldn't cost them anything. Parents have the option to turn Gifting On or Off, if you have a child that you want to buy crowns for, I highly suggest Turning Gifting Off in the Account Settings on the website. The master password is required to change this option, by no means should your child have that password.

If you wish to gift your friend something for their birthday or holiday, there's nothing wrong with that, especially when it's someone you play with a lot and has helped you a lot. However, someone running around the commons begging everyone to gift them, should by no means be gifted.

DO

If you have a friend that has helped you with a lot of things, and perhaps has a birthday or a special holiday (Christmas, valentines, etc.) Coming up, and you want to do something special for them, you can gift them.  To do this, go to the crown shop select the item that you want to gift your friend, click on the gift icon. Choose the friend you wish to gift, then click buy. Your friend will receive the gift right then, or the next time they log on if they are not online and it will tell them who it is from.

DON'T

There are also Gifting Scams, sad, but true. These are not reportable offenses and sadly you're left without your crowns and what ever was promised.  People will tell you to gift them and they'll give you Treasure cards, including rare and hard to find ones. I highly recommend avoiding such gifting practices, you are more likely getting ths short end of the stick in these deals. Most TC can be purchased at the Bazaar for Gold.  However, if you do decide to make such a trade MAKE THEM GIVE YOU THOSE CARDS BEFORE YOU GIFT THEM. Otherwise you stand the chance of two things happening, either they won't give you ANY treasure cards, and disappear quickly, OR they give you treasure cards that were not in the original bargain, and again disappear quickly.

Others will charge you a gifting fee to use their Pagoda or other goodies. Again, this is up to you, however i suggest you don't. There are a lot of people who will let you use their pagodas for free, and that need help to get through it themselves,  they will charge you nothing, and you may make a very good new friend.

  1. How do you know Gifting Scams aren't reportable offenses? (if it doesn't include TCs)
