Pet Training

Pet training is done in the Pet Pavilion in Wizard City.  You train your pets by playing the mini games and rewarding them with pet snacks when you have completed a game. Playing a game costs energy (the green globe).
  • Training a Baby to Teen costs 2 energy.
  • Training a Teen to Adult Costs 4 Energy.
  • Training Adult to Ancient costs 6 Energy.
  • Training Ancient to Epic costs 8 Energy.
  • Training Epic to Mega costs 10 Energy.
Every time you level a pet from baby it will gain 1 Talent (red) and 1 Ability (blue).  Talents sometimes  help the player when the pet is equipped during a battle. Abilities sometimes help the Pet when entered in a Pet Derby.

Talents and Abilities are decided the MOMENT the egg hatches. Each pet is only able to gain 4 talents and abilities at this time.  There are a lot of myths about training pets. Training a certain way or feeding certain snacks will not improve the chance of the pet to GET an ability. However, how you train your pet can effect the percentage of whatever boost your pet gets as well as it's ability to cast spells.
If your pet were to get a healing spell, making sure that the WILL bar is high will effect how often your pet uses the healing spell. Some Heal spells are cast more often than others, Spritely for instance is cast more  frequently than Unicorn. If you scroll over the bars it will tell you what each bar will help to increase.

Let's say our pet receives a Damage boost. In this case you will want to train Strength and Will. You can increase the number of points from the training session by choosing to feed a snack that offers points in these areas.

The number in the top left of the card tells you the 'rank' of the snack. The school icon on the right tells you what school pets may 'like or love' this snack. When a pet Likes or Loves a snack you are rewarded with extra training points. This is the only advantage to feeding certain snacks to certain pets.  To find out what school your pet is, hit B it will open your backpack. On the right hand side of the screen, click the Piggle icon, this will open the pet tab. The pet you currently have equipped will be the only one you see unless you hit the arrow key. This page will show you everything to know about your pet.

The pets name is on the top. The arrows on either side allow you to see your other pets in your backpack.
Beneath the name there will be a school icon, this is your pet's school, the type of pet will be beside it. Beneath that is the progress bar, this will turn green as you train your pet to Mega.
The pet in this picture is a death pet. If your not a death wizard, you may not want to train this pet, unless it has abilities that could also help your school. If you just really want this pet but with different talents, you can train it to adult and try to hatch the same pet but with talents that help your school, you would do this by hatching with a pet from your school. Hatching is not free. In addition to having an Adult pet, it costs in-game Gold, it is usually between 30,000 and 50,000 gold depending on what you are trying to hatch together.

More in depth pet guides can be found all over the internet.
